The Kano Online Journalists Association, in collaboration with the Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation, organized a one-day training workshop aimed at boosting the capacity of journalists in election reporting and personal safety ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event took place on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Press Centre at Farm Center, Kano.

The workshop brought together journalists from various online news platforms to cover core topics, including journalistic ethics, fact-checking, election coverage strategies, and safety measures during electoral violence.

Presenting a paper at the event, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, the former chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kano Council, emphasized the critical need for accuracy, fairness, and impartiality in election reporting, urging journalists to refrain from spreading fake news.

On his part, Isyaku Ahmad highlighted the importance of adhering to professional guidelines while covering elections, sharing practical strategies for navigating potential challenges on the field.
